    I really like the ambiance, but I would like to hear it without the drums or perhaps substitute them with some sonar bleeps.

  2. Perhaps have the soundtrack consists partly of ambient music, while the rest is made up of EFX from the environment and submarine that compliments the beat and provide variation.
    For Example:
    A faster beat overlays the soundtrack when the boosters are engaged.
    The sonar provides periodic beats.
    Light shined on certain fish create high pitched, whale like song nodes
    Screams, Creaks, and Rumbles could also play in using the random node in UDK.

    You could also consider how sound changes over depth or perhaps in the shadows vs. in lit areas.
